About the role
Join our Payments Platform team as a Staff Backend Engineer driving the systems that move billions in transactions for Acme customers worldwide. You will set technical direction and mentor a high-leverage team.
What you'll do
- Design and own ledgering, settlement, and reconciliation services at scale
- Lead architecture reviews and raise the bar on reliability and correctness
- Partner with product and risk to ship new payment methods globally
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers across the org
Requirements
- 8+ years building backend services, with deep distributed systems experience
- Strong Go or similar systems language and production PostgreSQL expertise
- Track record owning mission-critical, high-throughput services
Nice to have
- Experience with money movement, double-entry ledgers, or fintech
- Familiarity with event streaming via Kafka
